Scholarships The Korea Foundation - Korean Studies Association of Australasia (KF-KSAA) Fellowship for Graduate Studies, 2009 The Korea Foundation Fellowship for Graduate Studies is to support those who are pursuing an MA or a PhD degree in Korean Studies at an Australian or New Zealand university. Students who are enrolled in or gain admission to a graduate program in Australian or New Zealand universities, whose primary focus is on Korea, and whose Korean language ability is sufficient to carry out graduate research using Korean-language materials, are eligible to apply. The Fellowship is for those who intend to develop their academic and professional careers in countries other than Korea, and thus Korean nationals are not eligible for this Fellowship unless they have permanent residency status in Australia or New Zealand. The Fellowship term is one academic year. Recipients may reapply in succeeding years for additional support; a PhD student can receive the fellowship for up to three years and an MA student for up to two years. Prospective applicants should visit Korea Foundation's website, Home > Programs > Fellowships > Graduate Studies, from which application form in both MS Word and PDF format can be downloaded. The completed application form should be mailed in triplicate to: A/Professor Chung-Sok Suh by 30 September 2008. Applicants should also ask their referees to send reference letters directly to A/Professor Chung-Sok Suh. Submitted applications will then be considered by the KSAA Selection Committee for approval by the Korea Foundation. Applicants will be notified of the result of their application during November - December 2008. While being enrolled in or admitted to a graduate program in Australian or New Zealand universities is the minimum requirement, in cases where students will not learn the results of their applications for admission to university graduate programs before 1 February, they should nevertheless submit their applications for the Korea Foundation Fellowship by the due date, and inform the President of KSAA of developments as they occur. The maximum Fellowship amounts for recipients will be from AUD$16,000 to AUD$25,000, and the actual amount a recipient will receive will be calculated according to the actual fees and/or living stipends currently applying in the university at which a recipient is enrolled. For further details, please contact Professor Chung-Sok Suh, the Scretary of KSAA.
